Visible Memories

This project, made in collaboration with educators Sarah Morrison and Omar Roberts and 7th grade students from “Life Lines” Community Arts Project , reclaimed public space in Sunset Park, Brooklyn by replacing commercial advertisements with stories from the community.

Students interviewed people from the neighborhood and transformed these stories into paintings that were displayed along a half-mile stretch of 4th avenue. Students then led walking tours of their work, facilitating public dialogue about issues such as immigration, abortion, and tenants’ rights.
