Scary, OK with it, Good.

This project, made with 10th graders in Ms. Haynes’ English Language Arts class at the Academy of Urban Planning and the Center for Urban Pedagogy (CUP), delved into the many perspectives on safety in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

Students interviewed people who lived and worked in the neighborhood and used what they learned to build writing skills and understand different stakeholder positions. Students then acted out the varied stakeholder positions as tableaux vivants which became the basis for a series of posters juxtaposing different views of safety.

The posters were given to all the participants in the school and throughout the community.
