A Faraway Place. Right Here.

This solo exhibition at Artspace Gallery in New Haven, CT brought the street into the gallery and made the gallery accessible to the street. The themes of accessibility and public space were further developed in a workshop in which students from Artspace’s teen docent program created maquettes of public artworks that were designed for an empty lot in downtown New Haven.

The workshop gave students the opportunity to imagine ways of presenting themes such as stereotypes and discrimination to the general public. Augosto Boal’s innovative theater techniques were used to delve into the themes of the workshop and generate ideas for the maquettes.
